L'Escola Magenta
Escola Magenta is an independent educational project dedicated to electronic music, music production and DJing for teenagers and adults.
I develop most of my activities from the Slowart coworking space in Sant Andreu (Barcelona), where I teach courses and workshops in small groups.
I also work with schools, social organisations, cultural centres and other institutions interested in incorporating music and creativity into their educational programmes.
My educational approach is inspired by the Finnish model, which emphasises learning through exploration, experimentation and creation. For this reason, all activities combine hands-on practice, collaboration and digital resources to provide engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
Founder and educator at Escola Magenta, an educational project created to bring electronic music, DJing and music production closer to people who want to develop their creativity with clarity and confidence.
I started DJing at the age of 16 and began producing electronic music at 20. Since then, music, technology and audiovisual creation have been a central part of both my personal and professional journey.
My background includes studies in Music Technology at the University of the West of England (Bristol, United Kingdom), New Media Art at Aalto University (Finland), and Psychopedagogy at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). This combination has profoundly shaped the way I understand both creativity and learning.
For more than two decades, I have been involved in musical, audiovisual and educational projects across different countries, integrating creative, technological and pedagogical approaches that today form the foundation of Escola Magenta.
My teaching approach combines experimentation, structure and personalised guidance, helping each person develop their technical and creative skills in a supportive, practical and respectful learning environment that adapts to their own pace.

What are students saying about us?
It gave me perspective to electronic music, it's history and genres, interesting. Lu was supporting and clear and guided us from the very beginning.
I found the course very inspiring. Lu has been a supportive and enthusiastic guide, able to keep the course playful even when the obvious challenges of learning a new skill arose.
It was interesting and the handouts were informative.
We were able to learn about equipment, software and many options to start making music with fun exercises.
It was interesting to learn how to record my own music and also knowing more about the history of electronic music (which was unfamiliar to me)
I learned to make music from knowing nothing about the DAW, creating rhythm from MIDI, recording samples, layering, adjusting parameters and effects, a hint of mixing and mastering up to exporting my own music!
The course was well-structured and allowed us to freely express ourselves with music
Great course & nice positive atmosphere during the course
Lu is friendly, patient, and obviously knows what he is talking about
